Happy Friday the 13th!
Are you generally superstitious? Do you consider Friday the 13th an “unlucky” day? If so, you suffer from paraskavedekatriaphobia!
Paraskavedekatriaphobia is the scientific term for the fear some folks have of the date Friday the 13th. But where did this fear come from? Why is the date jinxed? How did this phobia come about?
There are many schools of thought on this matter. Many rumors run wild and cover the gamut from soup to nuts. One common belief is that the superstition surrounding this day began in the Middle Ages, originating from the Biblical times of the story of Jesus’ Last Supper in which there were 13 individuals present, whereas he died the next day on Good Friday.
But other strings of events have occurred over the years that have built the momentum of the Friday the 13th superstition. There were the multitudes of Knights Templar captured and tortured in France in 1307 of Friday, October 13th. The number 13 is also associated with witchcraft as it is deemed the number of witches needed to form a coven. There have been plane crashes, a cruise line sinking, bombings, cyclones, blizzards, stock market crashes, and the list goes on and on.
Some college professors who have done research on this subject also conclude that the fear of the number 13 comes from it following the number 12, a far more “safe number” as we have 12 apostles, 12 months and 12 zodiac signs.
So, whatever your personal feelings are on the matter,
we consider all days connected with our clients as lucky ones.
And we are always looking to make more connections!
